Star Trek: Bridge Commander

Review

Finally, a true Star Trek sim where your in command, make the decisions and live with the consequences, Star Trek Bridge Commander finally gives you the key to your very own Starship command. It appears like we are in for a real treat thanks to Activision and Totally Games, when your captain is killed aboard the Galaxy class USS Icarus, you must take command of her and the crew, and lead them into a great storyline testing your ability to command. And to top it, you will eventually get to command a Sovereign class starship similar to the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-E. I am sure you have took a look at the media samples from this game, and as the movie preview and screenshots suggests, this game is of epic proportions with the latest graphic engine recreating your favourite starships for a brilliant command experience and as we all like, stunning starship battles. Bridge Commander has your favourite friends and foes rolled in, and you diplomacy skills may help as you don't want to rage a war. You will be meeting new races as well as the Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians and Ferengi, and to help you, Bridge Commander will star Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner as Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Commander Data to help you in your quest. Bridge Commander looks set to hit the gaming industry by storm and with Totally Games' reputation for their X-Wing fighter series it will sure be a hit. But note, if you are familiar to this series, Bridge Commander includes heavy starships so don't expect an easy fight! And the recent addition of D. C. Fontana, famed for Star Trek scripts including, the famous Next Generation pilot, Encounter At Farpoint, makes Bridge Commander feel like you will be in interactive Star Trek episodes, with you playing Picard. Finally, it seems that Bridge Commander is not set a one time shot, as add-ons and perhaps a sequel are possibilities after the game's release early in the third quarter of 2001, it seems that you will be kept at your seats at the conn for some time. And for those interested for without PC's. Plans are underway for console versions of Bridge Commander such as on the Playstation 2 and X-Box after the game's initial PC release. Remember captain, keep a cool head, show no fear and always remember - risk is you business!

Expectation - 10/10
